ELIGIBILITY
I. Candidates must have completed a 4-year/3-year Undergraduate (UG) course with a minimum of 120 credits. The candidates shall have studied any of the following subjects in combination at under-graduation level, one of which is Honours/Major/Core subject: Bengali, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Santali, Economics, Geography, History (Ancient/ Modern), Music (Rabindra-Sangeet/ Classical-Vocal), Philosophy, Mathematics, Statistics, Education, Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry) and Life Science (Botany/Zoology).

Pre-service candidates (internal and external) and in-service candidates seeking admission to B.Ed. program shall have the required percentage according to NCTE rules in three-year B.A./B.Sc./B.Mus./BPA(Rabindra-Sangit/Classical-Vocal) degree with Honours/Major from a recognized University/Institution. The candidates shall have studied any of the following subjects in combination at under-graduation level, one of which is Honours/Major /Core subject: Bengali, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Santali, Economics, Geography, History (Ancient/ Modern), Music (Rabindra-Sangeet/ Classical-Vocal), Philosophy, Mathematics, Statistics, Education, Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry) and Life Science (Botany/Zoology).
II. All admissions will strictly adhere to the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) norms, as in vogue from time to time.
III. In-service candidates shall have at least three years continuous experience as a fulltime approved regular teacher in any secondary school recognized by the Central or any State Government and they must apply through proper channel.
IV. Preference shall be given for direct admission to those in-service candidates with at least three years continuous teaching experience as a full-time teacher from the intern school (not more than one teacher from each intern school) that has provided facility for internship at least for last three consecutive years to the B.Ed. interns of the Department. In case of more than one applicant from a particular intern school, selection will be done on the basis of service seniority.
